Group discussion on ‘Havocs of Polybags’ held among NSS volunteers


Ludhiana, December 25, 2017: On the second day of the seven day special NSS Camp being organized by Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana, the NSS volunteers recited the NSS theme song to promote National Integration and communal harmony among the volunteers. It was followed by yoga and meditation wherein the volunteers learnt the art of healthy living. A lecture on ‘Biofertilizers’ was organized for the NSS volunteers. They were advised to use Biofertilizers as they are economical and eco-friendly instead of chemical fertilizers which are harmful for the environment. The volunteers participated in the Poster Making Competition on the theme of ‘Global Warming’ and exhibited their talent through their painting skills. A group discussion on the topic ‘Havocs of Polybags’ was held among the NSS volunteers where they pledged not to use polythene bags as they are hazardous to the environment. They emphasized the use of various eco-friendly alternatives of polybags such as baskets made of paper weaving, jute, cloth and other fancy yarns. A survey was conducted on ‘Environment Preservation’ wherein the NSS volunteers interacted with college students and made them aware of disadvantages of using polybags, measures to save birds during summers and ecofreindly habits.
