Grewal Urges Youth to Honour Freedom Through Character and Service- Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal

Ludhiana (Dhandari Kalan), August 15, 2026: National Youth Leader, Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan unfurled the National Flag at BJS Public School, Dhandari Kalan, Ludhiana South Legislative Assembly Constituency, on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day. The National Anthem was played with great pride and reverence as the Tricolour rose majestically.
Speaking on the occasion, Grewal said that Independence Day is not merely a national celebration but a deeply emotional reminder of the sacrifices, courage and unwavering patriotism of our freedom fighters and martyrs. He said that the freedom we enjoy today was not received as a gift; it carries the priceless sacrifice of countless brave hearts, mothers, families and patriots who devoted their lives to the nation.
Grewal told the gathering that the greatest tribute to our martyrs is not confined to offering flowers at their photographs, but must be reflected in our character, conduct and daily actions. He said that every citizen must work honestly, respect the nation, help fellow citizens and contribute sincerely towards building a stronger, more prosperous and united India.
Addressing the students with affection, Grewal said that the children sitting before him are not merely carrying books in their hands, they are carrying the future of India. He urged them to become honest, hardworking, disciplined and compassionate human beings, stressing that true success is not measured only by a big position or wealth, but by the size of one’s heart, strength of character and willingness to serve others.
He further said that the Tricolour should not only fly proudly in the sky but should also live permanently in our hearts. When the honour of the country becomes our own honour, he said, true patriotism begins. He appealed to parents, teachers and society to teach children not only how to become successful, but also how to become good human beings.
Grewal respectfully recalled the glorious contribution of Punjab to the freedom struggle and said that the sacred soil of Punjab has given India countless brave sons, saints, soldiers and patriots who made supreme sacrifices for the nation. He called upon every Punjabi to work with dedication so that the name of Punjab and India continues to shine with pride across the world.
He emphasized that the strength of a nation is built not only by governments, but also by the character of its families, schools, youth and citizens. If every child takes a pledge to become a good human being first, India can achieve even greater heights, he said.
Grewal appealed to everyone to make Independence Day a renewed commitment to honesty, unity, discipline, compassion, national pride and selfless service. He said that the coming generations should be able to look back at the present generation with pride and say that we worked sincerely to leave behind a better, stronger and more compassionate India.
In his heartfelt appeal, Grewal said, “Our martyrs gave us freedom; now it is our turn to protect the honour of that freedom through our deeds. Let us not merely speak about loving our country- let us serve India every single day through our actions.”
He extended his warmest wishes to all citizens on the 80th Independence Day and urged everyone to celebrate the occasion with dignity, patriotism, brotherhood and a renewed commitment to the nation.
