Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta informed that for the Kharif 2026 season, a focused initiative is being implemented in Rohtak district to promote green manuring and improve soil health while reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers.
Rohtak, April 11, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta informed that for the Kharif 2026 season, a focused initiative is being implemented in Rohtak district to promote green manuring and improve soil health while reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers.
He said that farmers can cultivate green manure crops such as dhaincha, jowar (janter), and moong, which significantly enhance soil fertility through natural processes. To encourage adoption, the government is providing an incentive of ₹1000 per acre under the scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that a target of 20,000 acres has been set for green manuring in the district. Farmers willing to avail the benefit must register on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal by April 15, 2026.
He further explained that after registration, farmers will be required to purchase seeds from the open market, undertake sowing, and upload photographs of the crop on the portal to qualify for the incentive.
Highlighting the benefits of green manuring, the Deputy Commissioner said that such crops help in natural nitrogen fixation, increase organic carbon content, improve soil structure and water retention capacity, and aid in weed control. This results in reduced input costs and improved crop productivity over time.
He emphasized that the initiative is an important step towards sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture, ensuring long-term soil health and better yields for farmers.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all farmers in the district to actively participate in the scheme and maximize the use of green manure practices. For further information, farmers may contact the offices of the Deputy Director Agriculture, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, or Block Agriculture Officer.
