Rohtak, August 23, 2026: The residential campus of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) witnessed a plantation drive, with Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya leading the initiative. Faculty, non-teaching staff and students planted around 150 fruit-bearing and shade-giving saplings and pledged to ensure their regular care.
The drive began at the main gate of the residential campus, where Dr. Arya planted a traditional ‘Triveni’ comprising peepal, neem and banyan trees. Other saplings were planted at vacant spaces around the Vice-Chancellor’s residence, Ahilyabai Holkar Girls’ Hostel and faculty and staff quarters.
The plantation included mango, guava, lemon, jamun and amla, besides neem, peepal, banyan, ashoka and gulmohar.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Arya said trees are vital for clean air, shade, fruits and ecological balance. He stressed that plantation must be accompanied by sustained care, particularly amid rising pollution, temperatures and climate-related challenges.
Students took responsibility for individual saplings, pledging to water and protect them regularly. VC Dr. Arya also urged teaching and non-teaching staff to actively participate in expanding and protecting the campus green cover.
