Grand Nagar Kirtan Organized to Mark the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji
Devotees Turn Out in Large Numbers to Pay Obeisance; Warm Welcome Extended to the Sangat Participating in the Nagar Kirtan
Ludhiana, January 3, 2026: Celebrating the Parkash Purab (Birth Anniversary) of Dashmesh Pita, Sahib-e-Kamal Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji with immense devotion and reverence, a grand Nagar Kirtan was organized today by the Management Committee of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Model Town Extension, Ludhiana. The procession was taken out with the warm cooperation of the local Sangat amidst the resounding echoes of Bole So Nihal. Various religious, social, and political leaders, along with the local devotees, participated to pay their respects and tribute to the Great Guru.
Under the protection of the eternal Shabad Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and the leadership of the Panj Pyaras (Five Beloved Ones), the grand Nagar Kirtan commenced from the Gurdwara Sahib. A massive gathering of devotees attended the procession, bowing in reverence before the holy Swaroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, which was beautifully enshrined in a flower-bedecked palanquin (Palki Sahib).
During the Nagar Kirtan, Kirtani Jathas of Istri Satsang Sabhas enthralled the devotees by singing the divine Gurbani. Simultaneously, various band parties performed soulful tunes of Gurbani hymns, lending a spiritual and divine aura to the entire atmosphere. Meanwhile, the Gatka team of Guru Gobind Singh Public School, dressed in traditional Khalsai attire, mesmerized the gathering by performing traditional Sikh martial arts (Gatka).
The Nagar Kirtan, organized through the sincere efforts of Inderjit Singh Makkar, President of the Management Committee of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Model Town Extension, and all committee members, was warmly welcomed by various block associations and societies of the area. Additionally, under the leadership of Jaspal Singh Kohli, President of Model Town Extension A-Block Association, 'Guru Ka Langar' (community kitchen) was served continuously for the participating Sangat.
Starting from the Gurdwara Sahib, the Nagar Kirtan passed through Krishna Mandir Chowk, Shastri Nagar, Gurdwara Harnam Nagar, Montgomery Chowk, Gulati Chowk, Model Town Market, Gurdwara Shaheedan, and Char Khamba Chowk. After traversing Bijli Ghar Road and various blocks of Model Town Extension, the procession concluded back at the Gurdwara Sahib amidst chants of Jaikaras.
Upon the conclusion of the Nagar Kirtan, President Inderjit Singh Makkar expressed his gratitude to the Sangat, Ragi Jathas, Istri Satsang Sabhas, and members of various Sewa Societies. They were honored with 'Siropaos' (Robes of Honor), a blessing from the Guru’s house.
On this occasion, Mohinder Singh Dang, Atar Singh Makkar, Rajinder Singh Dang, Sukhwinder Singh Happy Kochhar, Harpal Singh Kholi, Gurkaran Singh Tina (Councilor’s husband),Amarjit Singh happy, Surinderpal Singh Bhutiani, Balbir Singh Bhatia, Gurdeep Singh D-Mart, Narinderpal Singh, Bhupinder Singh Mani Jewelers, Pritpal Singh, Inderbir Singh Batra, Prem Singh, Harpal Singh Khalsa Furniture, Bhupinder Singh Arora, Avtar Singh B.K., Harmeet Singh Dang, Ranjit Singh Khalsa, H.S. Kohli, Sarpanch Gurcharan Singh Khurana, Nimana, Paramjit Singh Sethi, Harbans Singh Raja, Manjot Singh Pahwa, Harpreet Singh Neeta, were among those specially present.
