Rohtak, February 9, 2026: The four-day Bharangam and Sarang Festival commenced grandly on Monday at the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak.

Renowned Bhojpuri singer and Member of Parliament, Manoj Tiwari, graced the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest and captivated the audience with his popular songs. The Sarang Festival featured diverse cultural performances in the courtyard of the FTV department. MP Manoj Tiwari mentioned DLC SUPVA in his songs. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, along with the university family, welcomed the guests who had been arriving since morning.

All the guests offered floral tributes at the statue of the renowned poet Pandit Lakhmi Chand, located on the university campus. This was followed by the flag hoisting ceremony for the Bharangam and Sarang Festival and the university. The program began with the lighting of the lamp. The event was graced by the presence of renowned Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma, Olympic medalist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, wrestler and model Sangram Singh, senior NSD artist Vidyanidhi, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, film producer Atul Gangwar, Chairperson of the Haryana State Women's Commission Renu Bhatia, and social worker Subhash Ahuja. The audience and students enthusiastically enjoyed several Bhojpuri songs presented by MP Manoj Tiwari during his address. He said that the song from the web series Panchayat, 'Hey Raja Ji, Ekare Ta Rahal Zarurat Muhurat Khoobsurat Ho,' is a song that has originated from the soil of Bihar. He said that just as the writings and folk songs of Dada Lakhmi Chand are famous in Haryana, many old folk songs from Bihar are also trending worldwide today. This teaches us that we need to connect our cultural heritage rooted in our traditions with modern art. He recalled that during his struggles, he wished someone would teach him the nuances of singing, acting, and dancing, but such resources were not available at that time. He considered the students fortunate to be studying at an institution like DLC SUPVA, where there are immense opportunities to learn and grow. He performed the songs ‘He He He Hans Dele Rinkiya Ke Papa’ and songs related to Chhath Maiya, in which the word 'SUPVA' was added.

Actor Yashpal Sharma said that it is a matter of pride that such a large international theatre festival, Bharangam, is being organized at the university. Students should take advantage of the facilities available here. The best thing is that the Vice-Chancellor and other staff always stay among the students. He advised the students to work with creativity and a positive mindset.

Wrestler Sangram Singh inspired the students to work hard. Student Nishtha's classical Kathak dance performance to the tune of Vande Mataram captivated everyone. 14 students from the University performed 'Rang-Sangeet' making everyone groove to the music. The students themselves prepared this song through discussions and dialogues. The audience witnessed a wonderful fusion of melody, voice, and rhythm. In the afternoon session, the team from the Nritya Bodhan Dance Company of Odisha state enthralled everyone with their Mayurbhanj Chhau and Odissi dance forms. Under the direction of renowned dancer Shifali Takia, her team presented the Mayurbhanj Chhau classical dance, showcasing expressive acting.
