Gram Suvidha Kendras to provide election related services: CEO Punjab

Chandigarh, October 21, 2013: Election Department, Punjab is planning to provide election related services like registration of new voters (form6), deletion (form 7), Modification (form 8), transposition (form 8 A) and Electrol Photo identity Card (EPIC) to rural citizens through Gram Suvidha Kendras opened in rural areas of Punjab.
Official Spokesperson of the Department disclosing this here today said that Raminder Singh CEO Punjab visited some CSC’s in the district Mohali to access the readiness of these centres for initiating election related services. These centres have been opened at a ratio of one centre for around six villages under common service centre scheme as part of National eGoverneance plan.
Spokesperson said that this project is being implemented in Punjab to provide services to citizens at their doorsteps and presently 2140 Common Service Centres have been established in the state. He said that as per information conveyed by the department of Governance Reforms Department, Punjab services such as PAN Card, eAADHAAR Card downloading & printing, AADHAAR Card enrolments, online citizen grievance registration, electricity bill collection along with various Business to citizen services such as mobile recharge, dishtv recharge, ticketing, insurance etc.
Spokesperson said that in near future services under financial inclusion scheme, eDistrict mission mode project and state Service delivery Gateway are also being planned to be delivered through these CSCs.
During his visit Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab highlighted the essential requirement of providing hassle free, transparent and time bound citizen services at the doorsteps of rural citizens. He further highlighted that necessary measures should be taken to spread awareness among rural citizens regarding availavility of citizen services at CSCs. www.cityairnews.com
