Rohtak, December 4, 2023: A Backward Classes Conference was organized today at the Old ITI Ground in Rohtak on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Saint Shiromani Sen Bhagat Ji Maharaj. Chief Guest, Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Singh Hooda, paid tribute to Saint Shiromani Sen Bhagat Ji Maharaj.
On this occasion, he said he fully supported the demands of the backward classes and said the government should accept them; otherwise we will do so when the Congress government is formed next year. “The people of Haryana have already made up their mind to change this government. The voice from all over the state is that the BJP-JJP government is going, and the Congress government is coming,” he said.
Deepender lauded the work done by the backward classes and said farmers and workers who wield hammer and sickle are the pillars and the foundation of our society. He said the previous Hooda government had also left no stone unturned in respecting the society.
He said the Hooda government of Congress formed the Kesh Kala Board and Mitti Kala Board to protect the interests of the BC community. He added that maximum representation was given to the people of backward class society in various boards and corporations.
While demanding to conduct a caste census, he said that the BC community should get representation on the basis of numbers. He assured that Congress will ensure maximum representation of the BC community through the party organization.
Deepender said in the recently passed Women's Reservation Bill passed by the Parliament, he gave an amendment in the Parliament to also include the BCs in the scope of reservation, but it was not accepted by the government. He said the Hooda government increased the reservation for backward classes in Group-A and Group-B of government services from 10 percent to 15 percent.
“To ensure that the extremely backward class (Block-A) gets the benefit of this reservation, 10 percent reservation was fixed for them, while the present government did not increase it even by 0.1 percent. This will be taken further when the Congress government comes to power in the state,” he said.
Deepender added that the present government in Haryana has kept the annual income limit of non-creamy layer at Rs 6 lakh, instead of Rs 8 lakh set by the Centre and this income received from all sources, including salary and agricultural income, is being added in the calculation of gross annual income. He said this discrepancy is also a clear violation of the guidelines issued by the centre and assured that this discrepancy will be removed and the income limit of BC creamy layer will be increased to Rs 10 lakh, when the Congress government comes to power in Haryana.
He further said for the first time, the Hooda government waived off the loan of about Rs 450 crore of the backward and poor class by the Backward Class Corporation. “Before this, no government had ever waived off even a single paisa loan of the backward class,” he said.
He said the Congress government reserved 5 acres of Panchayat land for the Kumhar community, but like the Panchayats, the present government has snatched away the rights of all the boards related to backward classes. “Hooda government of Congress gave plots of 100 yards to 4 lakh poor families and 65000 backward families benefited from the scheme. This time, when the Congress government comes, all deprived families will be given a plot of 100-100 yards and a 2-room government house will be built on that plot through Indira Awas,” he said.
Deepender assured that the workers of BC communities will get interest free loans from the Backward Class Corporation on the lines of Cooperative Corporation. “The previous Congress government opened government schools in every village and locality to educate the children of backward class and poor society, and started the scholarship scheme for 20 lakh children from class 1st to 12th.
Attacking the state government, Deepender said Haryana has today reached number 1 in unemployment, corruption and drug addiction in the entire country. “Haryana has left its neighbour Punjab behind in deaths due to drug addiction and drug overdose. Frustrated with unemployment, youth are either getting into drug addiction or are selling everything and moving to foreign countries,” he said.
He further said government sector jobs were abolished in the state, schools are being closed and railways, airports, ports and government companies are being handed over to big industrialists. When the Congress government comes to power in the state, Skill Corporation will be abolished along with the confirmed recruitment on 2 lakh vacant posts. We will also complete the backlog of SC, BC recruitment,” he added.
“Our mission is to take Haryana from being number 1 in unemployment to number 1 in employment generation.
