Chandigarh, February 9, 2026: Govt. Home Science College organized a one-day workshop on “Role of Artificial Intelligence in Research” under the aegis of its Institutional Innovation Council, aiming to familiarize research scholars and postgraduate students with the emerging applications of artificial intelligence in academic research. The workshop was specially curated for PhD scholars and MSc students, keeping in mind their needs related to dissertation writing and research work.

The session was led by Neha Sethi, who served as the resource person for the event. She elaborated on how artificial intelligence is transforming the research landscape by enabling efficient literature review, data collection and analysis, reference management, plagiarism detection, and research documentation. The speaker also discussed the ethical use of AI tools and guided participants on integrating AI responsibly into their research practices. Practical examples and demonstrations helped students understand how AI can save time, enhance accuracy, and improve the overall quality of research output.

The workshop witnessed an active participation, with students engaging in discussions and seeking clarity on the application of AI tools for their dissertations and ongoing research projects.

Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the College, emphasized the significant role of artificial intelligence in strengthening research capabilities. She encouraged students to leverage AI as a supportive tool to promote innovation, critical thinking, and academic excellence, while adhering to ethical standards. The workshop concluded on a successful note, leaving participants better equipped for their future research endeavours.
