Chandigarh, May 11, 2026: Government Home Science College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sapta Sindhu Cultural Heritage Forum on May 8, 2026 for socio-cultural research and awareness initiatives under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines.
The collaboration aims to foster academic cooperation for the successful implementation of the Sapta Sindhu Campaign, focusing on rediscovering and disseminating the socio-cultural history and antiquity of civilization within society. The MoU also seeks to provide students with practical exposure through internships, research assignments, workshops, symposiums, and experiential learning opportunities.
During the programme, Dr. Virender,OSD to Union Health Minister, highlighted the importance of the rich Sapta Sindhu cultural heritage and emphasized the growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence in preserving, documenting, and promoting traditional knowledge systems. He encouraged students to adopt interdisciplinary and technology-driven approaches in research and innovation.He further elaborated on how students can gain meaningful insights into research methodologies and industry-academia collaborations through structured internships, field projects, awareness campaigns, and mentorship opportunities.
The partnership encourages students to pursue intellectual property rights (IPR) for their original research findings, innovations, archives, and creative content developed during the programme.
Prof. Nandita from Panjab University explained the significance of internships within the framework of the MoU. She emphasized that internships provide valuable practical exposure, strengthen professional competencies, and help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.
The Principal of the college Prof Sudha Katyal appreciated the efforts of the Sapta Sindhu Cultural Heritage Forum in creating valuable opportunities for students and stated that such collaborations would contribute significantly toward holistic education, research excellence.
