Governor Punjab VPS Badnore inaugurates Int Ext Expo

Chandigarh: Fourth edition of the four day Int Ext  Expo was inaugurated on Friday at Parade Ground Sector 17 Chandigarh by Governor of Punjab and Administrator Chandigarh VPS Badnore After the inauguration Governor along with distinguished guests visited most of the stalls and appreciated the latest innovations displayed by the exhibitors. The event witnessed an encouraging footfall on the first day and the visitors showed keen interest in latest art furniture interior design Lifestyle building and construction material on display. Governor Badnore  encouraged the organisers to come up with more such shows and he appreciated that the  show is even more bigger this year than previous year.

“Seminar on “Sustainable & Safe Buildings” on the First day of the expo was major attraction other  than 6000 products on by 250 Exhibitors on display.

Buildings consume about 31% of energy in their construction, maintenance and operations as per the figures of Ministry of Statistics and programme Implementation, Government of India. Likewise safety of buildings is a major concern keeping in view the growing fire accidents or earthquakes. In order to address the issues of energy saving in buildings and their safety, a seminar was organized today at Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh titled “Sustainable & Safe Buildings”.
It was organized by Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Punjab Chapter and Udan Media & communications Pvt Ltd. This initiative was supported by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Fire & Security Association of India (FSAI), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and Indian Plumbing Association (IPA).

Architect PPS Ahluwalia delivered the welcome address. Engineer Neeraj Arora, Senior Director from ASSOCHAM highlighted the building features related to the Green and Eco-friendly Movement rating system.

Engineer Balkar Singh, Joint Director, Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) explained applications of Energy Conservation Building Codes and their benefits. Engineer Anuj Agarwal from Fire Safety Association of India stressed on the need to design buildings keeping in new fire safety measures and codes. Mr Sahil Kansal, Chairman of Chandigarh Chapter of Indian Plumbing Association gave a presentation on latest trends in plumbing systems and need to adopt measures to save potable water.

Ar Sanjay Goel, Chairman of IIA, Punjab Chapter spoke on Sustainable Architecture and need to design environment friendly buildings. 

Engineer Mukul Grover represented President Elect, ASHRAE Chandigarh Chapter. He explained the working of their organization to make sustainable and safe buildings.

Architect Surinder Bahga’s talk was on “Earthquake-Resistant Buildings”. He advised that great care should be taken to design buildings to make them earthquake resistant. He showed examples and case studies of buildings which have stood the test of the time.

In the end, 10 professionals from different disciplines were felicitated for their good work by Mayor Raj Bala Malik. She was the Chief Guest and GS Dhillon, Director of Udan Media & Communications Pvt Ltd.

Money Khanna, Energy Engineer from PEDA presented vote of thanks. The seminar was attended by nearly 150 architects, engineers, planners, interior designers and students of these professions.
