Government to build 3,117 Model Playgrounds in villages with Rs 966 Crore investment

30 villages in Khanna to get ‘Model Playgrounds’ with modern sports facilities: Tarunpreet Singh Sond

Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Thursday announced that the Punjab government will build 3,117 ‘Model Playgrounds’ across villages in all 23 districts of the state at a cost of Rs 966 crore.
In a press conference, the Minister detailed that the playgrounds will be constructed in the following districts: Amritsar (194), Barnala (94), Bathinda (186), Faridkot (91), Fatehgarh Sahib (93), Fazilka (123), Ferozepur (121), Gurdaspur (198), Hoshiarpur (202), Jalandhar (168), Kapurthala (107), Ludhiana (257), Malerkotla (57), Mansa (119), Moga (144), Pathankot (58), Patiala (191), Rupnagar (73), Sangrur (186), SAS Nagar (Mohali) (89), Muktsar Sahib (134), Tarn Taran (138), and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (94). These playgrounds are set to be completed within the next six months.
In Khanna, the Minister stated that out of the 67 villages in the Khanna constituency, 30 will receive ‘Model Playgrounds.’ These include villages like Bhadla Ucha (2.15 acres), Boothgarh (1.54 acres), Goh (1.45 acres), Malkpur (1.50 acres), Manakmajra (1.85 acres), Sahibpura (1.30 acres), Bhumaddi (1.75 acres), Chakohi (1.85 acres), Ikolahi (1.31 acres), Kamma (0.95 acres), Dahiru (2.50 acres), Faizgarh (1.50 acres), Kishanpur (1.65 acres), Panjrukha (1.00 acre), Turmari (0.35 acres), Beevipura (2.89 acres), Ganduan (1.95 acres), Kaurhi (0.5 acres), Kishangarh (1.90 acres), Lalheri (1.13 acres), Libra (1.65 acres), Mahindipur (1.50 acres), Jaspalon (2.50 acres), Fatehpur (0.75 acres), Rajewal (1.65 acres), Rohno Khurd (1.80 acres), Isru (4.00 acres), Nasrali (4.10 acres), and Khatra (2.50 acres). These playgrounds will have facilities for various sports such as basketball, volleyball, hockey, and cricket, and will be fully equipped with open gyms.
Sond emphasized that the project will play a significant role in keeping youth away from drugs by providing them with proper spaces to engage in sports and constructive activities. He added that the government will ensure every village has a beautiful playground. He described the project as a gift to future generations from the Punjab Government.
