Government should focus on development of existing focal points in Punjab rather than modern industrial park: FICO

Ludhiana: It is notified that GLADA invited office bearers of all listed Industrial associations in Ludhiana on Monday to discuss over the amenities to be provided for the Industrial Park. Meeting was chaired by Mr. Parminder Singh Gill, I.A.S. Chief Administrator GLADA.

While talking to media persons, Mr. Gurmeet Singh Kular, President FICO, raised query in the meeting that PSIEC being an allotment authority did promise several amenities like Police Station, Fire brigade, Bus Stop, Dispensary, 3 Star Hotel, Commerce Centre etc. in past while allotting the Phase VIII, Focal Point. Later on, they failed to provide the same. Kular apprised media that FICO is in regular pursuit to obtain the promised amenities of Phase VIII which were advertised and promised prior to allotment but later on were never provided. On Similar terms, GLADA/PSIEC should clear its stand on Amenities to be provided for Modern Industrial Park and crystal blueprint should be published so that the decision of Modern Industrial Park is considered by Industry men.

Mr. Rajeev Jain General Secretary FICO said as, the government is developing the new industrial parks, the condition of the existing focal points in Punjab is not up to the mark, government should focus on that and provide the necessary basic amenities the industry. Moreover, nothing has been done in case of Dhanansu Cycle Valley, the land has been sold to one or two big corporates, but the plots are not made available to the MSME Sector, which is the backbone of Ludhiana’s Industry.

Mr. Gagnish Singh Khurana Head FICO Agricultural Implement’s Division, added that as the primary survey and study of MAP indicates that the Modern Industrial Park have its boundaries over the low-lying area near Sutlej where its Flood Plains lie.  The most likely condition will be industrial park will be facing floods during Increment in water level in Sutlej and thus posing risk for their buildings and machinery. Ludhiana has witnessed several floods from Sutlej River in past and a proper survey from Geophysicist or Flood Specialist is necessary to study the topography of the proposed area.

FICO urged that Environment Clearance of the Proposed Modern Industrial Park to be made public so that Industries can assess the viability of their projects./August 12, 2021
