GOVT SHOULD FACILITATE AND BEAR EXPENDITURE FOR RETURN OF WILLING WORKERS TO GO TO THEIR NATIVE PLACES: CPI

Ludhiana: The Communist Party of India District Ludhiana unit has demanded that the migrant labour who want to go to their native places, their travel should be facilitated and  should be given free travel.  It is duty of  the central government  to bear all the expenses for their travel.  But the attitude of the Modi government in not paying the travel expenses is condemnable. Latest circular of Ministry of Home Affairs that only those workers who came  immediately before the lock down and now want to return,  their travel will be facilitated is highly condemnable and amounts to making the workers bonded labourers.

Whereas the government is spending crores on air travel stranded at different places through their attitude body workers is totally insensitive. In a statement Comrades D P Maur, Dr Arun Mitra, Chamkaur Singh, M S Bhatia said that the workers have not got any salary/earning since sudden lockdown was imposed and have not got time to go to their home. The government should facilitate their registration as only very few have smart phones. Some those who have smart phones do not have money to recharge. Already 55000 workers are reported to have registered their names to go to their leader places, many more are waiting for registration.  If the central government is insensitive to their issues of the workers who are already starving and many of them not getting even one square we lead and at the mercy of others, the Punjab government should come forward to bear their travel expenses. It is the culture of Punjab to help everyone and therefore the Punjab government must bear their expenses, they said.
