Government Home Science College organises one day webinar on “Sustainability and Fashion”

Chandigarh, February 26, 2022: The Clothing and Textiles Department of Government Home Science College, Chandigarh Organised one day Webinar on “Sustainability and Fashion” on 26 Feb 2022. Mrs. Heena Narang, Assistant Professor, GHSC -10, Chandigarh was the first resource person who spoke about the need of sustainability in fashion industry which is a multibillion global enterprise and its contribution to Indian Economy.  She further discussed the unintended consequences of fast fashion like textile waste, environmental and occupational hazards. While concluding she enlightened the audience with 3R’s of sustainability and various methods to achieve it.
Dr. Sumita Sikka, Assistant Professor , GGDSD  College , Chandigarh was the second resource person . She stressed on adopting sustainable behaviour for textile waste management. Dr Sikka gave here valuable inputs from her research  on textile waste management about various techniques to utilize textile waste to protect the environment for future generations. She also shared her experiences about meditation with the audience. 
The webinar received an overwhelming response by enthusiastic participants. Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal  encouraged the students to practice sustainability in fashion as well to save the environment and appreciated the valuable information disseminated to the students taking them a step closer towards the achievement of goals of sustainability.
