Chandigarh, February 28, 2022: The Clothing and Textiles Department of Government Home Science College, Chandigarh Organized one day Webinar on “Design Registration Process: An Insight” on Monday. 

Dr.Charu Kohli, Assistant Professor, NIIFT, Jallandhar was the resource person who spoke about the procedure of Design Registration Process. She talked about the difference between patents, copyrights and trade mark in a very systematic manner to give students a more clear idea. She further briefed about the benefits of design registration process and essential requirements for Registration i.e. design should be new, original, not to be disclosed to the public and significantly distinguishable from know designs. The design can be registered for 10 years and can further be renewed for 5 years.

She further discussed the application procedure, shared the forms required and classification of Designs. Dr. Kohli gave her valuable inputs from her research in Design Registration.

The webinar received an overwhelming response by enthusiastic participants. Principal of the college, Prof Sudha Katyal, encouraged the students to register their designs or research work.
