The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday organized a two-day online capacity-building workshop for sarpanchs and panchs on achieving the Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs).

Ludhiana, December 1, 2022: The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday organized a two-day online capacity-building workshop for sarpanchs and panchs on achieving the Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs). 

The workshop was held in the building of Zila Parishad where Deputy CEO Navneet Joshi and District Development and Panchayat Officer Rupinderjit Kaur welcomed representatives of gram panchayats. The main aim of the workshop was to equip the elected representatives and functionaries of the panchayats with adequate skills for the effective delivery of the SDGs through adopting thematic approaches of LSDGs. The nine themes including free and enhanced livelihoods, healthy, child-friendly, water-sufficient, clean and green, self-sufficient infrastructure, socially secured and social just, good governance, and women-friendly villages have been identified for LSDGs. 

In the workshop, resource persons from the State Institute of Rural Development Sunita Sharma and Veerpal Kaur gave detailed training to the representatives of gram panchayats and officials of the panchayats department. 

Later, Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal also addressed the workshop through video conferencing.
