Jalandhar, April 15, 2026: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) National Joint General Secretary (Sah-Sarkaryavah) Dr Krishna Gopal, while addressing a “Pramukh Nagrik Goshti” at DAVIET, Jalandhar, said that the RSS was founded in 1925 by Dr K.B. Hedgewar with a mission of social service and a vision of social equality.
He said that in ancient India, people were well educated in fields such as arithmetic, trigonometry and algebra, and had knowledge of numbers and astronomical movements like the sun, moon and eclipses. He added that kings during the Gupta period, including Chandragupta Maurya and Samudragupta, were known for their development works, which made that era the “Golden Period” of India. He emphasised that India has a rich traditional culture and that invaders, despite their small forces, could not disturb the social fabric and brotherhood of the country.
Speaking on environmental concerns, Dr Krishna Gopal said global warming is disturbing the environment across the world, leading to excessive rainfall, heat and snowfall. He warned that it would be too late if efforts are not made to reduce pollution and maintain ecological balance for future generations.
He further said that around 90,000 RSS shakhas are conducted daily across India, along with several other affiliated organisations working to strengthen the social structure of society. He stressed that the organisation’s ideology focuses on social evolution and collective service through various social initiatives.
He urged people to guide youth towards education and away from drug abuse, stressing the need for strictness on this issue. He also highlighted the role of Vidya Bharati in promoting education and called upon everyone to work sincerely to restore India’s ancient glory.
Dr Krishna Gopal also answered several questions from residents and swayamsevaks after his address.
