GLADA Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Colonies and Unauthorised Buildings in Ludhiana
Following the direction of Hardeep Singh Mundian, Minister Housing and Urban Development and the GLADA Chief Administrator Vikas Hira had shown zero tolerance to unauthorized and unplanned development with a special focus on illegal colonies and Buildings.

Ludhiana, July 17, 2026: Following the direction of Hardeep Singh Mundian, Minister Housing and Urban Development and the GLADA Chief Administrator Vikas Hira had shown zero tolerance to unauthorized and unplanned development with a special focus on illegal colonies and Buildings. He said a special drive has also been launched to take punitive action against those who were fleecing innocent residents under the garb of offering cheaper plots in these unauthorized colonies, which lacked statutory sanction and compliance with the government norms.
In compliance of sealing/Demolition orders issued by Additional Chief Administrator, GLADA-Ludhiana against unauthorized Building, Duty Magistrate, police force and enforcement team of GLADA Regulatory wing Sealed/demolished six unauthorized Building on 16-07-2026 in village Threeke and Daad Ludhiana by sealing/demolishing illegal constructions and structures on these sites. When developers did not stop/demolish the illegal construction work despite serving them with the notices, a special team carried out the Sealing/ demolishing drive, which went unopposed. In a move to check mushrooming of illegal Buildings at the very initial stage GLADA is planning more such drives in upcoming weeks.
The Chief Administrator, GLADA appealed to the general public not to purchase plots/buildings in unauthorized colonies, as residents of such colonies may face serious issues regarding basic facilities such as water supply, sewerage, roads, electricity connectivity and other civic amenities. The public has also been advised to verify the status of colonies/projects from the approved and regularized colony list available on the official website of GLADA before making any investment.
The Additional Chief Administrator, GLADA-cum-Competent Authority, Ludhiana stated that besides demolition drives, GLADA shall continue taking strict legal action under the Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act against all persons involved in unauthorized development in Ludhiana district.
