GLADA demolishes four unauthorized colonies and one illegal building today

Ludhiana, August 20, 2025: Following the directions of Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar, the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) on Wednesday demolished four illegal colonies and an unauthorised building in village Mullanpur, Manakwal, Dhandra by dismantling their roads and undergoing illegal constructions and structures on these sites. When developers did not stop the illegal construction work despite serving them with the notices, a special team carried out the demolition drive, which went unopposed.

Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar emphasized that such enforcement drives are part of a broader strategy to curb the proliferation of unauthorized colonies at their inception. He added that the GLADA has planned additional demolition drives in the coming weeks to ensure compliance with government regulations and to protect the public from fraudulent developers exploiting innocent buyers with promises of affordable plots in unapproved colonies.

The Chief Administrator also urged the public to verify the legitimacy of properties before purchasing, cautioning that unauthorized colonies will not be provided with essential services such as water supply, sewerage, or electricity connections. A comprehensive list of approved and regularized colonies, along with their sanctioned maps, is available on GLADA’s official website for prospective buyers to consult.

The GLADA has also recommended filing of FIRs against the developers of unauthorized colonies in the district.
