GLADA demolishes 13 illegal buildings and three unauthorized colonies
Following the directions of Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and GLADA Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar, its regulatory wing on Wednesday demolished 13 unauthorized buildings and three unauthorized colonies in village Dhandra, Manakwal and Mehmoodpura.

Ludhiana, March 25, 2026: Following the directions of Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and GLADA Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar, its regulatory wing on Wednesday demolished 13 unauthorized buildings and three unauthorized colonies in village Dhandra, Manakwal and Mehmoodpura.
GLADA Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar stated that a special drive has also been launched to take punitive action against those who were fleecing innocent residents under the garb of offering cheaper plots in these unauthorized colonies, which lacked statutory sanction and compliance with the government norms.
In compliance of demolition orders issued by Additional Chief Administrator-3, GLADA-Ludhiana against unauthorized colonies, Duty Magistrate, police force and enforcement team of GLADA Regulatory wing sealed/demolished Thirteen unauthorized Building/constructions and demolished Three unauthorized colonies on Wednesday by dismantling their roads and undergoing illegal constructions and structures on these sites. When developers did not stop the illegal construction work despite serving them with the notices, a special team carried out the demolition drive, which went unopposed. In a move to check mushrooming of illegal colonies at the very initial stage GLADA is planning more such drives in upcoming weeks
The Chief Administrator, GLADA, appealed to general public not to purchase property/plots/buildings in unauthorized colonies as GLADA will not provide any facility like water supply, sewerage, electricity connections etc. The list of approved & regularized colonies along with their sanctioned maps is available on the Official Website of GLADA, which may be checked by the prospective buyers before buying any property.
GLADA Additional Chief Administrator-3 said besides undertaking a demolition campaign, GLADA Shall take action strictly as per law initiate appropriate legal proceedings against persons who carry out unauthorized development in district.
