GJU celebrates 80th Independence Day; VC unfurls the Tricolour

Hisar, August 15, 2026: Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, celebrated the 80th Independence Day at Maharana Pratap Stadium, where Vice-Chancellor Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi unfurled the National Flag.

Addressing the university community, Prof. Bishnoi paid tribute to the freedom fighters and said Independence Day is an occasion to remember the sacrifices that secured the nation’s freedom. Highlighting the contribution of women freedom fighters, he said today’s India is a “New India” that is confidently meeting challenges and making its mark in science, technology, space, digital transformation and innovation.

He said the vision of a developed India can be realised only when development reaches every household, children receive quality education, youth get employment opportunities, farmers prosper and women feel safe. Referring to the National Education Policy 2020, he said GJUST was actively contributing to this transformation.

Prof. Bishnoi said the university had introduced 36 new regular programmes over the past three years, taking the total to 97, besides 22 ODL and 44 online programmes.

The ceremony was attended by University First Lady Dr. Vandana Bishnoi, Registrar Dr. Vijay Kumar, officers, employees and students. NSS, NCC and security personnel presented a parade, while cultural performances were organised by the Directorate of Youth Welfare. Sports events for children of university residents were also held.
