Giant Starkenn Partners with Rotary Club of Pune Smart City to organize a Cyclothon

3rd consecutive Rotary Smart Cyclothon to create awareness about the increasing pollution in the city

Pune, February 7, 2019: Starkenn Sports Pvt Ltd. in association with Rotary Club of Pune Smart City is organizing the 3rd consecutive Smart Cyclothon to create awareness about cycling and its benefits as a healthy and nature friendly pollution-freeway of commutation. The bicycle rally will commence on Sunday, 10 February 2019 at 6.30 AM from Film & Television Institute, Pune. The event will witness participation under two categories; 5 km and 20 km respectively.

The Cyclothon has enthusiastic support from Pune Municipal Corporation and Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd and over 700 cyclists are expected to join the early morning ride through the picturesque streets of Pune. The Cyclothon has been provided with financial support from companies such as Kotak Mutual Fund, Ravetkar Housing, ABM Knowledgeware Ltd., Saishree Hospital and Film & Television Institute, Pune. The goal of this Cyclothon is to make citizens aware about the high level of air pollution due to increased number of public and private vehicles. With the help of this Cyclothon, Rotary Club of Pune Smart City is planning to raise funds that will be used for multiple health purposes and social activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pravin V Patil, Managing Director and CEO, Starkenn Sports Pvt Ltd said, “Our primary objective at Giant Starkenn is to always create awareness about the environmental issues and promoting cycling as the preferred choice of commutation. It is a moment of enormous pride for us to collaborate with Rotary Club of Pune Smart City, and create a platform to address an important issue like air pollution. In addition to this, it is a great way to raise funds to solve various health and social issues of the less privileged ones in our society. We will continue doing such activities to extend our support to Rotary Club and promote cycling for a better tomorrow.”

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rutwij Bhawkar, President, Rotary Club of Pune Smart City said, “We are extremely happy and proud to partner with Giant Starkenn as they share our vision of reducing pollution and promoting cycling as a lifestyle in India. With this Cyclothon we are raising funds that can be used for health camps for kids and women from slum areas, cleft surgery, baby warmer donation etc. Our aim is to continuously organize such social activities and we appeal to everybody to take part in it with equal enthusiasm. Our vision is to make our city pollution free so that many health hazards can be reduced”
