Ludhiana, December 18, 2017: A GIAN (Global Initiative for Academic Network) under AICTE on Waste Management through 3D/4D additive manufacturing was inaugurated today at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. The course was inaugurated by Dr.Buta Singh, Dean (Academics), MRS Punjab Technical University, Bhathinda. Dr.Surinder Bir Singh, Ex-Principal, GNDEC and Dr.R.S.Seehra, Ex-Principal, GNDEC were guests of honor. welcoming the guests, Dr.Sehijpal Singh, Principal said that this was the first of its kind course in the region in which the faculty would be from Italy and India (IIT, Kharagpur and GNDEC). Dr.Rupinder Singh, Professor, Production Engineering and local coordinator of the course said that waste management was the need of hour. In the competitive industrial scenario, waste management would provide an edge to the industry. Giving his views Pf. Fernando Fraternali, Professor, structural Mechanics, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Salerno, Italy said 3D and 4D printing techniques were being widely used for waste management. Pf. Fernando has number of research projects with various universities worldwide and is actively involved in waste management projects. Dr. Jasmaninder Singh Grewal, HOD (Production Engineering) proposed the formal vote of thanks.
