Chandigarh, July 7, 2025: The five-day intensive course under the Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN), an esteemed program launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, started today at the Department of Chemistry, Panjab University.

A number of academics, subject experts, and industry professionals are participating in the workshop for a rich exchange of knowledge and research insights. The course will conclude on July 11, 2025.

PU Registrar Prof. Y.P. Verma and Director, Research and Development Cell Prof. Meenakshi Goyal inaugurated the prestigious workshop. Both dignitaries addressed the gathering and emphasised the university’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and promoting global collaborations in higher education.

Today’s session featured a compelling keynote address by Prof. Sanjay V. Malhotra, a globally recognised expert in the field of experimental therapeutics, who delivered an insightful talk on “Advances in Experimental Therapeutics,” setting a high academic tone for the week ahead.

 

The GIAN course is being coordinated by Prof. Gurjaspreet Singh and Dr. Aman Bhalla of the Department of Chemistry, whose dedicated efforts have been instrumental in conceptualising and organising the event.

Throughout the course, participants will engage in a series of lectures, discussions, and interactive sessions aimed at deepening subject understanding and encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue. The initiative reflects the broader goals of GIAN—to harness the expertise of international scholars for strengthening India’s higher education framework.
