GHSC-10 Students Showcase Culinary Skills through Cafeteria Activity
Students of Government Home Science College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, showcased their culinary and food service skills by organising a special cafeteria at the Institutional Foods Laboratory as part of their practical training and curriculum-based learning on September 22.

Chandigarh. September 23, 2026: Students of Government Home Science College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, showcased their culinary and food service skills by organising a special cafeteria at the Institutional Foods Laboratory as part of their practical training and curriculum-based learning on September 22. Students meticulously planned, prepared and served Pav Bhaji and refreshing Lemonade. The cafeteria activity provided practical exposure to various aspects of food service management, including menu planning, food preparation, production, hygiene and sanitation, portion control, presentation, service and customer handling. Working collaboratively, the students demonstrated enthusiasm, creativity and efficiency in managing the cafeteria operations.
Furthermore, the activity served as an effective experiential learning opportunity, enabling students to strengthen key professional competencies such as teamwork, coordination, communication, time management, problem-solving and efficient food service management. It also helped them understand the importance of maintaining quality, hygiene and customer satisfaction in a food service setting.
Principal of the College, Prof. Sudha Katyal, appreciated the enthusiastic participation and sincere efforts of the students. She emphasised that such practical and experiential learning activities play a significant role in bridging the gap between classroom learning and professional practice, while equipping students with the confidence and competencies required to excel as future professionals in the field of Food and Nutrition.
