Chandigarh, September 22, 2026: Students of Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, participated in the 133rd Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Historic Chicago Address organised on September 11, at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Sector-15 B, Chandigarh.
The programme provided the students with an enriching opportunity to reflect upon the life, teachings, philosophy and enduring legacy of Swami Vivekananda. The participants gained valuable insights into his vision of youth empowerment, character building, self-confidence, discipline, service to society and nation-building. His timeless message of strength, unity and dedication inspired the young participants to recognise their responsibilities as citizens and to contribute meaningfully towards the welfare and development of society.
The visit proved to be an informative, inspiring and enriching experience for the NCC Cadets, NSS Volunteers and students of the Department of Human Development. The students developed a deeper understanding of Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts and reflected upon their relevance in the present times, particularly in nurturing confident, responsible and socially committed youth.
Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal emphasised the importance of introducing students to the life and philosophy of great thinkers and visionaries like Swami Vivekananda. She highlighted that his teachings on self-confidence, discipline, character building, service and dedication continue to hold immense relevance for the youth. She further encouraged the students to draw inspiration from his ideals, develop a strong sense of social responsibility and strive towards becoming compassionate, disciplined and responsible citizens who contribute positively to society and the nation.
The programme concluded with a renewed sense of service, discipline, compassion and dedication, motivating the students to imbibe Swami Vivekananda’s ideals in their personal and social lives and to contribute positively towards nation-building.
