GHSC-10 Organised Walk for Drug-Free Chandigarh: A Step Towards a Healthier Future
In a firm commitment to combating drug abuse and promoting a healthier, addiction-free society, Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, organized a “Walk for Drug-Free Chandigarh” on Saturday. The initiative was part of a state-wide campaign spearheaded by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria.

Chandigarh, May 3, 2025: In a firm commitment to combating drug abuse and promoting a healthier, addiction-free society, Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, organized a “Walk for Drug-Free Chandigarh” on Saturday. The initiative was part of a state-wide campaign spearheaded by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria.
The college served as one of the key starting points for the walk, which concluded at Tiranga Park, Sector-17. To ensure smooth execution, the college conducted a mock drill a day prior to the event, familiarizing all stakeholders with the logistics and coordination plan.
Demonstrating commendable civic engagement, over 200 participants, including NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, VADA club members and faculty, joined the walk with enthusiasm. Holding placards and raising slogans, they aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug use. The college collaborated closely with local authorities to facilitate seamless organization. Refreshment partners for the event were Verka and Amul.
Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the College, expressed immense pride in the students’ passionate involvement. She reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to community outreach and social responsibility, emphasizing that through sustained awareness campaigns, robust counseling support and active engagement in social causes, the college endeavors to nurture well-informed, conscientious and socially responsible individuals.
