Chandigarh, May 17, 2025: Government Home Science College, Chandigarh organised a comprehensive fire safety drill aimed at educating staff and students about essential precautions and procedures to follow during any fire emergency.
The drill was conducted by Mr. Balwant Singh and his team from the Fire and Rescue Department, Sector 11, Chandigarh. During the session, participants were briefed on common causes of fire and were guided step-by-step on how to respond effectively during such emergencies. A key highlight of the event was the hands-on training, where students and staff actively practiced using fire extinguishers, equipping them with practical skills to handle unforeseen incidents. This initiative proved highly beneficial, enhancing the preparedness of all stakeholders and reinforcing the importance of safety measures within the campus environment.
Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the college, commended the Disaster Management Committee for their proactive efforts. She emphasized the critical role of such drills in raising awareness and empowering both staff and students with the knowledge and confidence to manage disaster situations effectively.
