Chandigarh, September 4, 2025: Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, celebrated ‘Akshay Urja Diwas’ 2025 on August 25. The event, sponsored by CREST, Chandigarh Administration, was held on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.”
Akshay Urja Diwas, initiated by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in 2004, aims to spread awareness about the significance of renewable energy and efficient resource utilization. It highlights the potential of clean energy sources such as solar, wind, biogas and hydropower in shaping a sustainable future.
To mark the occasion, the Environment Committee ‘Harita’ organized a series of intra-college competitions including Jute Bag Painting, Mug Painting and Stone Painting. These activities not only showcased students’ creativity but also served as a medium to promote the importance and innovations in renewable energy. Over 120 students participated with great enthusiasm, reflecting their commitment towards environmental sustainability.
Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, commended the efforts of the Environment Committee and lauded the participants for their innovative portrayals of renewable resources. She emphasized that such initiatives play a vital role in motivating society to adopt clean energy practices and contribute to building a greener planet for future generations.
