GHSC-10 Conducts Orientation Programme for Academic Session 2025-26
Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, extended a warm welcome to its incoming batch of students for the academic year 2025-26 through a thoughtfully planned Orientation Programme aimed at acquainting them with the campus, academic environment and available support systems on August 14, 2025.

Chandigarh, August 14, 2025: Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, extended a warm welcome to its incoming batch of students for the academic year 2025-26 through a thoughtfully planned Orientation Programme aimed at acquainting them with the campus, academic environment and available support systems on August 14, 2025.
The programme commenced with a heartfelt welcome address by the Honourable Principal, Prof. Sudha Katyal, who underscored the importance of academic excellence, personal growth and community engagement. She encouraged students to actively participate in both curricular and co-curricular activities to ensure holistic development. Prof. Katyal also highlighted the relevance of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, describing it as a progressive framework that aligns perfectly with the college’s mission to deliver a holistic, flexible, and multidisciplinary education.
The event was graced by Brahmakumari Preeti Didi as the Chief Guest. In her inspiring address, she shared valuable insights on leading a disciplined, value-based and purposeful life. She encouraged students to cultivate mindful actions that nurture spiritual growth and build strong character.
Following the inaugural session, Prof. Reetinder Brar briefed students on campus rules and regulations, emphasizing discipline, punctuality, regularity and the prohibition of mobile phone usage during lectures. The newcomers were introduced to faculty members, various academic departments, and student support services such as the Diet Clinic, Aasha Counselling Cell and Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Placement (IEP) Cell. Heads of Departments provided an overview of the curriculum, extracurricular opportunities, and research avenues available at the college.
The programme concluded with a guided campus tour, giving students a firsthand experience of the vibrant learning environment and modern facilities. The Orientation Programme served as an inspiring beginning to the students’ academic journey, setting the tone for a year filled with learning, growth and achievement.
