Chandigarh: Government Home Science College celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great enthusiasm, patriotism and a strong sense of dedication.

The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the esteemed Principal, Prof. Sudha Katyal, followed by the solemn and reverberating recitation of the National Anthem.

The program was enriched by captivating performances from the tiny tots of Chaitanya Laboratory Nursery School, whose innocence and energy left the audience spellbound. Adding to the patriotic fervor, NSS volunteers presented a soulful vocal performance followed by a vibrant group dance that resonated throughout the campus.

Furthermore, highlighting social awareness, the NSS volunteers staged a powerful Nukkad Natak on the theme “Aaj Ki Galtiyan, Kal Ka Nuksaan- Badlav Humse Shuru”, conveying a strong message of responsibility and change. The volunteers also beautifully portrayed the spirit of unity in diversity, the very essence of the nation through the theme, “Hind desh ke nivasi sabhi jan ek hain, Rang-roop, vesh, bhasha chahe anek hain.”

The highlight of the celebration was an energetic flash mob by the NSS volunteers which engaged the entire audience and had everyone dancing to patriotic songs. The program concluded with a powerful message emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in building a strong and united nation.

In continuation of the Republic Day celebrations, NSS volunteers organized a cleanliness drive to promote cleanliness and civic responsibility. The initiative aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of hygiene, sanitation, and a clean environment, while encouraging community participation and responsible citizenship.

Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the college, applauded the efforts of the NSS Wing for organizing the celebration so effectively. In her address, she shared the historical significance of Republic Day reminding everyone of the sacrifices and efforts that shaped India into a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. She inspired students and staff to strive for excellence and take pride in being Indian.
