GHSC-10 and IPCA Promote Sustainable Plastic Waste Management through Project D.R.O.P.

Chandigarh, October 26, 2026: Government Home Science College, Chandigarh in collaboration with The Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), Chandigarh, has taken a significant step towards promoting sustainable plastic waste management by providing benches manufactured from recycled plastic to the college on October 24.
As part of the ongoing Project D.R.O.P., plastic waste collected by the college was handed over to IPCA for recycling and conversion into useful products. The initiative highlighted the importance of responsible waste segregation, recycling, and resource recovery, demonstrating how discarded plastic can be transformed into durable and functional assets for the campus.
Appreciating the collaborative effort, Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal emphasized the need to adopt environmentally responsible practices and promote a culture of sustainability among students and staff. She highlighted the importance of collective action in reducing plastic waste and encouraged the campus community to embrace the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle in their everyday lives.
This initiative reflected the spirit of a circular economy, wherein waste is treated as a valuable resource rather than a discarded material. By facilitating the recycling and reuse of collected plastic waste, GHSC-10 and IPCA have reinforced their shared commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable resource management, and the development of a cleaner, greener and more eco-friendly campus.
