GHAR GHAR ROZGAR SCHEME:  PUNJAB GOVT COMMITTED FOR PROVIDING JOBS TO UNEMPLOYED YOUTH: CHANNI

Ludhiana, November 19, 2018: Punjab Technical Education and Industrial Training, Employment Generation Minister Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today said that the Punjab government is committed for providing jobs to the unemployed youth of the state. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, several job fair have already been organised in different parts of the state, where thousands of youth have been given jobs under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar Scheme.

Mr Channi said this while speaking to media persons after inaugurating the 4-day Mega Job Fair at Government ITI on Gill Road, here today. Under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojana of the Punjab government, a four-day long Mega Job Fair is being organized in Ludhiana from today onwards, i.e. November 19-22, 2018.

While speaking to media persons, the Minister said that to know the market demands, the department is in constant touch with industrialists. He said that the courses in ITI’s and other technical education institutes are designed in such a manner that it suits the industry so that our youth get maximum employment. He said that if our youth are trained in a specific course, which is in demand with the industry, then they would not only get employed, but would be paid good as well.

He also urged the industrialists to contact him or any senior officials from his department so that the courses are updated keeping in mind the changing demand of industry. While interacting with a group of local industrialists over this issue, Mr Charanjit Singh Channi asked officials of his department to ensure the existing courses are upgraded as per the industry requirements.

He said that ever since the Congress formed government in Punjab in 2017, its main agenda was to provide maximum employment to the youth. He said that till date, thousands of youth have been provided jobs under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar Scheme of the state government. He said that day is not far when all our youth would be having proper employment.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal informed that on the first day, thousands of youth got themselves registered for jobs. She said that in this Mega Job Fair, 866 different companies would carry interviews of youth for providing 76,166 jobs of different kinds. She said that this Mega Job Fair is being organized simultaneously at three different venues namely Government ITI (Boys), Ludhiana, Government Institute of Textile Chemistry and Knitting Technology in Rishi Nagar, here and at Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic on Gill Road, here. The timings of the job fair are 9 am to 5 pm.

She urged the unemployed youth to register themselves for this Mega Job Fair and make full use of next three days as many jobs are still on offering in the coming days.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included MLA Ludhiana (East) Mr Sanjay Talwar, Additional Director Technical Education & Industrial Training Mrs Daljit Kaur Sidhu, Deputy Director Mr Harpal Singh, SDM Khanna Mr Sandeep Singh, Government ITI Ludhiana Principal Mr Jaswant Singh Bhathal, Senior Congress leader Mr Ishwarjot Singh Cheema, besides several others.
