Ludhiana, March 17, 2017: In order to bridge the gap between the working of the industry and academia the students of GGNIMT, ghumar mandi, civil lines, Ludhiana, visited the BSNL Exchange in Ludhiana. The aim of the visit was to understand the working of a communication exchange and how the voice of one person travels over millions of miles in real time and without any noticeable delay. Mr.Rajinder Singh Asst. Director official language of the BSNL exchange introduced the students to various technologies being used in the exchange. Students came to know about the working of a Communication Back-Bone, Fiber Optics and their importance in communication in particular over the internet. Students of BCA and MCA accompanied by faculty members interacted with General Manager Mr. Raj Deo, who handled many queries of the students and also highlighted various career opportunities which the telecom sector has to offer. Students visited Data Center, MDF, Transmission center, MSC and BSC of the BSNL Exchange at Bharat Nagar Chowk. Prof. Satinderjit Singh (Head Department of Computer Applications) and Prof. Rajni Puri who accompanied the students on the visit explained various aspects of wireless and wired transmission to the students and encouraged them to ask as many questions as possible so that they can clear any doubts that they have. Students were highly appreciative and thankful of college authorities for providing them this opportunity. College Director Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra highlighted the importance of this visit and said that such visits are very important as they provide the students a window to learn the various aspects of real life and come out of bookish learning.
