Ludhiana, May 25, 2024: For apprising the micro observers about their role at the critical polling locations in Ludhiana parliamentary constituency (PC), a training session was held for the micro observers at Khalsa College for Women on Saturday.

General Observer for Ludhiana PC, Divya Mittal IAS also participated in the meeting and asked the micro observers to perform their duties well, so that everyone gets to exercise their Right to Vote and the entire electoral process is completed peacefully. 

Terming the micro-observers as ears and eyes of the Election Commission of India (ECI), General Observer Divya Mittal, IAS said that micro-observers have a huge role to play for free, fair and peaceful assembly elections in the district. They said that micro observers should keep close vigil on the overall election process of the polling booth/s assigned to them on June 1 (polling day). 

Stating that the micro observers are part of her team to keep a strict vigil at the polling stations, General Observer Divya Mittal also asked the micro observers to contact the senior officials of administration or contact her (Divya Mittal) directly at her local number (78142-11934), if any kind of violation takes place at the polling station.   

Sharing her past experience when she was also deputed as a micro observer at a critical polling station back in time, General Observer Divya Mittal said that the micro observers have an important role to play at the polling station to ensure that polling process is completely in a fair and transparent manner.

Working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO) Sakshi Sawhney, the training session was held under the supervision of Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Ankur Mahindroo. Assistant Commissioner (UT) Kritika Goyal among other officials were also present during the training session.

During the training session, the micro observers were also apprised of the working of the electronic voting machines (EVM). They were also apprised of the entire process of conducting mock polls to check the functioning of EVMs before the actual voting starts.
