Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kumar cautioned ‘Most ailments are trivial and self limiting and use of medicines amounts to abuse of medical resources. Unfortunately antibiotics, pain killers, tonics, tranquilizers are abused with impunity by the patients’. Sharing his long experience of 50 years in practice, he cited examples of several patients, who could be converted to non-patients just by counseling. He said that one should say no to drugs of all kinds, unless absolutely indicated. Healthcare is not medicines or tests; it includes clean food, water, air, yoga and stress free life. He focused on appropriate foods, regular exercises, adequate sleep and ethics in every aspect of life. Those who put on excessive weight or remain glued to mobile screens are set to suffer serious ailments like obesity, diabetes, heart ailments, hypertension, stroke, anemia and unproductive life.
