Zirakpur, September 8, 2023: This time during Ganesh Chaturthi, from whichever direction you look at Ganpati, you will see Lord Ganesha looking at you in the same direction. Yes, this is the specialty of the Ganpati idols being made  for Ganesh Chaturthi. Rajasthani artists have been called to give a special look  to Ganesh ji's eyes. These artists are adding the effect of their special colors to the eyes of the idols of Lord Ganesha.

This year Ganesh Chaturthi is on 19th September for which booking of Ganpati idols has started. Phoolchand under whose direction the idols are being prepared said that for Ganesh Chaturthi, an eleven feet high Shri Ganesh has been made. He added that the idols of Lord Ganesha are getting special attention from devotees due to captivating eyes of Ganesha. “No matter from which direction you look, Lord Ganesha will be seen looking at you”, he said.

Phoolchand has called a team of four special artists from Rajasthan and two of them are preparing the eyes of Ganesha's idols. Phoolchand informed that to prepare eco-friendly idols of Lord Ganesha, he had ordered four trucks of special soil from Haridwar. Along with this, water of the Holy river Ganga was also ordered. With the combination of which the structure of the idols has been prepared.

He said that the booking of idols of Ganpati ji has already started. He said that this time light colors are being used in making the idols of Lord Ganesha. Phoolchand is accompanied by a team of about ten people who are all giving final touches to the idols.

He informed that these idols of Ganesh ji are being made near Ganga Nursery under the Zirakpur bridge. He added that all the artisans are working till two o'clock in the night so that the work can be completed on time. Phoolchand said that people are coming from Himachal, Haryana and Jammu to collect the idols of Ganpati from him. They are taking away the idols that have been prepared.

“Earlier Ganpati idols were being made with non-biodegradable Plaster of Paris which created environmental problems during 'visarjan'. We now make only earthen Ganpati idols with pure clay. This clay has a property of 'easy -dissolution' when immersed in water. The idol can be immersed in a home tub and dissolves within an hour and later the clay can be used in kitchen gardens and even in flower pots," concluded Phoolchand.
