Gandhi, Shastri ideals take centre stage at MDU book expo
A seven-day special book exhibition on the life, works and ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri opened at the Swami Vivekananda Library of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Thursday.
Rohtak, October 1, 2026: A seven-day special book exhibition on the life, works and ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri opened at the Swami Vivekananda Library of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Thursday.
MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Poonia and noted social worker Rajesh Jain inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal.
Prof. Poonia said the lives of Gandhi and Shastri embodied truth, simplicity, discipline and service to the nation. He urged students to study their ideas and draw inspiration from their lives.
Rajesh Jain said their ideals remain relevant and called upon youngsters to imbibe their values and contribute to the nation’s development.
Prof. Bansal said such exhibitions promote a reading culture among students while connecting them with the lives and ideas of national leaders.
Library In-charge Dr Satish Malik said books on Gandhi and Shastri, including works authored by Gandhi himself, have been put on display. The exhibition will remain open for seven days.
Deputy Librarian Dr Seema, Information Scientist Dr Sunder Singh Tanwar, Chief Consultant Outreach Prof Raj Kumar, Director Public Relations Sunit Mukherjee, library staff and students were present.
