Ludhiana, December 10, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting budding entrepreneurs during the launch of the Boot Camp under the Future Tycoons program for aspiring entrepreneurs at CT University.
Jorwal praised his batchmate, 2014 IAS officer Sakshi Sawhney (DC of Amritsar), for initiating this program when she was the DC of Ludhiana. Jorwal emphasized that innovation is one of the most crucial driving forces behind a successful economy. He highlighted that the initiative aims to promote innovative start-ups across various sectors, including health, education, agriculture, and information technology. He stressed that the ideas should be inclusive, accessible, available, affordable, economically viable, and socially acceptable. Some young people hesitate to share their ideas, thinking they may be too small. However, they should understand that even small ideas can create a significant impact on society. He encouraged them to persist in their efforts, as not everyone may win, but every competition offers valuable lessons. Learning is a continuous process, and this mindset should be cultivated throughout life.
The Deputy Commissioner added that the Future Tycoons program is designed to empower individuals with the best ideas and help them become successful business leaders by providing seed funding for their ventures. The program specifically targets marginalized and underprivileged members of society who may not have had the opportunity to seek financial support for their ideas and projects. He assured participants of the district administration’s unwavering support in nurturing entrepreneurial talent and helping them bring their ideas to life.
Jorwal mentioned that out of 4,625 nominations received so far, 218 ideas have been selected for the boot camp. From these, 25 will advance to the jury round, and 15 of the best ideas will be chosen as winners. He also expressed appreciation for the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana Angel Network, and Innovation Mission Punjab for providing seed capital of Rs 13.10 crores for the program. The initiative has been launched in collaboration with Innovation Mission Punjab and Start-up Punjab under the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Government of Punjab.
Jorwal extended his gratitude to District Development Fellow Ambar Bandopadhyay and Employment Officer Jiwandeep Singh, along with the entire team of the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises, for their dedicated efforts in organizing this transformative event.
Earlier, Harpreet Singh, vice-chairman of CT Institutes, welcomed the Deputy Commissioner upon his arrival for the event.
