Future of green energy, not only important for energy resources, it’s necessary for society: Dr. S.K. Mishra

Jalandhar / Kapurthala, June 3, 2022: The future is of green energy, it is not only necessary for electricity or money, it is also necessary for society. The way in which energy is used, nature has been challenged by humans. In such a situation, it is necessary to encourage the substitute energy so that the balance can be restored. In the context of promotion of Green Energy, this message was delivered by Dr.S.K Mishra, Registrar I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU). He was addressing the inaugural session of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Green Energy and Electricity System" organized in the main campus of the University on Friday. Endorsing his message, Dean P&EP Pro (Dr.) Yadwinder Singh Brar, Chairman, Organizing Board said that the teacher's class will have a special contribution in deciding the seriousness of the subject and the future.

On this occasion, the congratulatory message sent by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Sh. Rahul Bhandari, sr. IAS, in the name of the organizing board, was also read. Prof. (Dr.) J.S Dhillon of Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLITE) Longowal was the special guest in this Faculty Development Program. 

This one week long National Level Faculty Development Program is sponsored by the University as well as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). This program is being organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University. In this program 60 participants from Haryana, Himachal, Delhi-NCR, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar and Punjab have registered. The participants include various research scholars, faculty and research mentors from IITs, NITs, technical universities and engineering colleges. It will also talk about exploring new areas for research in green energy. 

Dr. Mishra stressed on the need of green energy and its benefits in the society. He also linked the underlying theme with the national policy of electricity. Dr. J.S Dhillon, Professor, SLIET, in his special address shared his expertise in using power systems and various optimization techniques. He highlighted the importance and role of optimization techniques for electric power systems. 

During this one week event, experts spoke on topics related to the scope of energy and power systems, future optimization techniques, artificial intelligence, renewable energy sources, challenges for grid integration, smart grids, deregulated power systems, crop residues.
