Ludhiana, January 30, 2024:Fulfilling the long pending demand of the residents, Ludhiana North MLA Madan Lal Bagga and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Sandeep Rishi kick started the project to construct the road on the other side of buddha nullah on Tuesday.

Laying foundation stone of the project at Haibowal main puli, MLA Bagga stated that under this project, the road would be constructed from Haibowal main puli till the bridge over buddha nullah near Chand cinema.

Around 3 kms long stretch of road would be constructed at a cost of around Rs 5.84 crore. The project is being taken up as a deposit work under smart city mission.

While addressing the gathering, MLA Bagga stated that he had made a promise to the residents that the garbage dump, which earlier existed on Haibowal main puli, would be removed and a road would be constructed on the other side of the nullah. The garbage dump at Haibowal main puli was a blot on the face of the entire area for the last few decades.

The legislator stated that the garbage dump has already been removed from the spot in the past and the promise to construct the road on the other side of nullah has also been fulfilled with the commencement of this project on Tuesday.

MLA Bagga and MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi said that construction of the road on the other side of the buddha nullah will streamline the movement of traffic in the area. This will also help in beautification of the area on this side of the nullah.

Speaking of the encroachments on the side of nullah, the authorities stated that an appeal has been made to the residents to remove the encroachments and a number of residents have themselves started removing the same. If the residents fail to remove the encroachments then the civic body would be forced to remove the encroachments as these have to be removed for construction of the road.

MLA Bagga said that a large number of development projects worth crores are being taken up in the Ludhiana North constituency. This has been made possible due to the support of the residents and guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government.

MLA Bagga further stated that the civic body officials have been directed to ensure that there is no compromise with the quality of the work and the project should be completed within the stipulated time period.

More projects worth crores would also be initiated in the constituency in the coming time including the project to repair the existing bridges (puli) and construction of new bridges over buddha nullah, added MLA Bagga.

Area residents and shopkeepers who had gathered at the spot also lauded MLA Madan Lal Bagga for inaugurating the project. They stated that no one could even remove the dump from the spot in the past. But MLA Bagga took the initiative after which not only the dump has been removed, but the project has also been initiated to construct the road.
