FTCCI–TGSPDCL meeting focuses on Power Supply, Tariff Relief and Solar Issues
CMD Jitesh V. Patil assures industry of support in resolving grievances; key action points agreed upon to improve industrial power services
Hyderabad, October 17, 2026: The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) held its sixth consecutive monthly stakeholders’ meeting with Jitesh V. Patil, Chairman and Managing Director of Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL), at Federation House, Hyderabad, on Saturday. More than 45 participants, including senior TGSPDCL officials, FTCCI office-bearers, Energy Committee members, KPMG consultants, industrial associations and industry representatives, attended the meeting.
Discussions focused on power supply reliability, evening peak-hour interruptions, tariff relief, delayed payment surcharge reduction, solar net metering and resolution of pending industry grievances. Representatives of process industries highlighted production losses caused by power interruptions and requested advance notice of scheduled power cuts. TGSPDCL agreed to consider advance SMS and email alerts to help industries plan their operations.
FTCCI sought an extension of the collection period for the two-hour fuel surcharge from 29 to 48 months, a reduction in the delayed payment surcharge from 18% compounding to 12%, and a six-month waiver of the additional surcharge on Open Access. The meeting also reviewed the proposed One-Time Settlement scheme for legacy surcharge dues, with a financial assessment underway and an ERC filing expected by November 30, 2026, with KPMG’s support.
An important outcome was the proposed introduction of dedicated Operations Service Managers and Key Account Managers for HT industrial consumers to address power supply, operational and billing issues. The CMD agreed to issue a formal circular within a week, followed by an orientation session with FTCCI. Industries were also encouraged to use [email protected] for customer service-related concerns.
Solar energy issues, including delays in rooftop solar net metering approvals, behind-the-meter solar installations, net billing and time-of-day charges for solar generator supply, were discussed. FTCCI will submit two to three documented cases of delayed net metering approvals to help TGSPDCL identify bottlenecks. The CMD also agreed to review the implementation timeline for time-of-day charges. TGSPDCL is procuring four to five power quality meters to improve transparency in Open Access NOC testing.
The meeting also explored solar and battery storage solutions for gated communities to reduce electricity costs for common facilities. The CMD proposed a dedicated workshop involving gated community associations, solar and battery solution providers, FTCCI and other stakeholders, with KPMG assisting in its organisation.
Other issues reviewed included voltage fluctuations, transformer overloads, tree-cutting-related power interruptions, removal of HT classification flags, auxiliary consumption conversion and high electricity bills. TGSPDCL agreed to follow up on pending grievances, examine infrastructure improvements and consider third-party energy audits to verify billing accuracy. Feeder and transformer enhancement works are targeted for completion by December 31, 2026.
The CMD assured industry representatives of TGSPDCL’s continued support in addressing grievances and improving service delivery. FTCCI appreciated his accessibility and constructive engagement, expressing confidence that the agreed action points would strengthen coordination between the power utility and industry and support Telangana’s industrial growth.
The meeting was attended by Jitesh V. Patil, CMD, TGSPDCL; Chakrapani, Director (Commercial), TGSPDCL; Krishna Reddy, Director (Finance), TGSPDCL; K. K. Maheshwari, President, FTCCI; Vinod Kumar Agarwal, Vice President, FTCCI; and Sushil Kumar Sancheti, Chairman, Energy Committee, FTCCI.
