Friends Sports Table Tennis Club wins the First Mixed Table Tennis Championship

The two-day First Mixed Table Tennis Championship, held at Government Women’s College, Rohtak, concluded today with Friends Sports Table Tennis Club emerging as the overall winner. Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta and Hena Sukhna, Joint Commissioner (Income Tax), presented trophies and prizes to the winning players.

Rohtak, January 4, 2026: The two-day First Mixed Table Tennis Championship, held at Government Women’s College, Rohtak, concluded today with Friends Sports Table Tennis Club emerging as the overall winner. Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta and Hena Sukhna, Joint Commissioner (Income Tax), presented trophies and prizes to the winning players.

Congratulating the participants, the Deputy Commissioner said that Rohtak district is continuously working towards creating a strong and enabling sporting ecosystem for athletes. “Sports and sportspersons are being given top priority. A better sports environment has been developed at the district level so that talent can flourish,” he said.

Highlighting Haryana’s achievements in sports, DC Sachin Gupta stated that Haryana has carved out a distinct identity at the national and international level due to its sportspersons. “With a strong sports policy and focused grassroots investment, Haryana has emerged as one of India’s leading sports hubs,” he added.

Referring to the state government’s sports policy, the Deputy Commissioner said that Olympic gold medalists are awarded ₹6 crore, silver medalists ₹4 crore, and bronze medalists ₹2.50 crore, along with ₹15 lakh for every Olympic participant. He further informed that Haryana athletes selected for the Olympics are provided an advance of ₹5 lakh for training and diet, and Paralympic medalists and participants are given incentives at par with Olympic athletes. “This policy has become a role model for other states,” he said.

The winning Friends Sports Table Tennis Club team included Jubin Kumar, Suhana Saini, Paras, and Arnav Verma. The Ace Attackers team secured second position with Nikunj Atri, Anjali Rohilla, Avni Dua, and Bhavya. Third place was bagged by Shri Ram Sena Gurugram, represented by Siddhant Kataria, Kashvi Kalra, Avni Jhangu, and Granth Duklan.

Tournament organizer and table tennis coach Bhavna Saini welcomed the guests and presented mementos. She informed that the championship witnessed participation from 16 teams.

Several sports enthusiasts and dignitaries, including Vikas Saini, Gaurav Nagpal, Nitya Nagpal, Yash Sharma, Tina Sharma, Arun Jhangu, Kunal Kumar, Ganesh Ahuja, Neeraj Singh, Satbir Saini, and Kamla Saini, were present on the occasion.
