Free medical check up camp by hero DMC Heart Institute

Ludhiana, March 23, 2014: A free medical & heart  check up camp was organised by Hero DMC Heart Institute in association with Sidh Peeth Asthan Trust Welfare Society at Dandi Swami Mandir, Ludhiana. Dr GS Wander, Chief Cardiologist & Coordinator, HDHI led the team of doctors and technicians from the heart institute which also included Dr Rohit Tandon (MD, Medicine),Dr.Shibba Takkar & Dr.Rakendra. About 450 patients were examined at camp.
The problem of heart disease in the country has reached epidemic proportions. Awareness is therefore of prime importance in the fight against this potentially life-threatening disease. Therefore the initiative by Hero DMC Heart Institute is a step towards educating the people about the various preventive measures, thereby detecting and treating cardiac problems, at an early stage." This will ensure a healthy future for our society as a whole- said Dr.G.S Wander.
Patient education was an integral part of the camp; various risk factors were also discussed in the Indian context. The risk factors involved in cardiac diseases are modifiable and can be best controlled by education and awareness.
Dr.Wander said-The increasing incidence of heart diseases and the increasing deaths due to heart disease is a major area of concern for the Indian healthcare industry.
The camp offered free general medical examination, blood sugar tests, ECG, cardiologist consultation by Hero DMC Heart Institute.
