Ludhiana, September 29, 2014: A free Medical & Heart Check up camp was organised by Dayanand Medical College & Hospital – Unit – Hero DMC Heart Institute in association with Lions Club at Civil Hospital, Jalalabad on Sunday. Dr.G.S Wander, Chief Cardiologist, HDHI led the team of doctors & technicians which also included attending physician Dr.Rohit Tandon.
Deputy commissioner of Fazilka Manjit Singh Brar & Swapan Sharma (SSP) was also present at the occasion as Chief Guest.
More than 250 patients were benefited in the camp with free investigations like ECG, Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure monitoring, Dietician consultation.
According to Dr.G.S Wander, one needs for a healthy heart are balanced diet, regular exercise, mental relaxation and avoiding smoking. “For the right diet, one should eat less fat, less sodium, fewer calories and more fiber. Aerobic exercises--like swimming, cycling and brisk walking--through increased blood levels of endorphins and nitric oxide, brings physical and mental relaxation and a feeling of well being. The hardest part of an exercise routine is getting started. Once you've established a regular pattern of exercise, you'll find yourself following it,”
Regular camps at remote areas, is very beneficial especially for poor patients who cannot afford treatment in hospitals. Members of Lions club enthusiastically participated in the camp for this Philanthropic Work.
Medicines were distributed to all registered patients free of cost.
