Phagwara, June 8, 2022: DMCH Cancer Care Centre In collaboration with American Oncology Institute (AOI) Ludhiana today organized a free cancer screening and awareness camp in association with World Cancer Care at Blood Bank Phagwara. In the cancer screening camp, more than 250 patients were screened and examined by Dr. Maithili Sharma (Radiation Oncology) from DMCH Cancer Care Centre In collaboration with American oncology Institute Ludhiana (A unit of DMC hospital & managing society) 

Speaking on the occasion, Aditya Sabharwal, DGM, said “Besides conducting screening tests at the camp, we wanted to educate and create awareness about early detection in the public. The key to surviving cancer is early diagnosis and prevention. With this camp, we aim to motivate people and urge regular screening. Those present at the camp were Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal (MLA Phagwara), Dr. Maithili Sharma (Radiation Onocologist) DMCH Ludhiana), Dr. Dharminder Dhillon MD World Cancer Care Charitable Society, Malkit Singh Ragrotra and members of the blood bank phagwara graced the occasion. As part of the organizing team of the mega camp Sanjeev Mishra, Zonal Director AOI Ludhiana also present along with the nursing and medical team of DMCH Cancer Care Centre, AOI Ludhiana and World Cancer Care.

DMCH Cancer Care Centre In collaboration with American Oncology Institute Ludhiana and World Cancer Care team offered free tests and services like Mammography, Bone Densitometry, Pap Smear, PSA, and other lab tests along with free Oncology, Gynaecology, and General consultation at the camp. More than 250 patients were screened at this first of its kind mega general and cancer screening camp in Phagwara city where 4 buses cum mobile medical vans were present. The team informed that such kind of camps will be carried out in future also, so that maximum people are made aware and screened for cancer as early detection can help increase the chances of survival and treatment success in cancer patients.

The team from DMCH Cancer Care Centre in collaboration with American Oncology Institute Ludhiana said that in its continued efforts to bring in the most advanced technology in Cancer Care to the region, AOI Ludhiana has recently brought up with one of the most advanced Radiotherapy Machine, HALCYON E in the centre at Ludhiana and it is the first ever such machine installed in the whole north region including Punjab, Jammu, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh & Haryana.
