France wants Mid-East peace talks to resume urgently

Paris, July 10 (IANS) France Wednesday urged Israeli officials and Palestinian authorities to urgently resume peace negotiations to reach "a fundamental solution", to end the deadlock in the Middle East and ease tensions in the region.

Asked about Paris proposal to de-escalate tensions in Gaza Strip, the French foreign ministry's spokesperson Romain Nadal said "the current crisis confirms the urgent need to revive the political process in order to find a fundamental solution, whose general terms are known", Xinhua reported.

The fresh wave of violence in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would be discussed at the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council scheduled for July 22, said Nadal, during a daily press briefing.

At least 44 people were killed in Hamas-controlled enclave after Israel has launched a massive air raid on Gaza following the death of three kidnapped Israeli youth.
