Four car borne assailants open firing in Ferozepur- one dead, another injured
In a late night incident in Mamdot, four car borne assailants opened firing towards another car in which Gurpreet Singh Alias Gopi ( 45) who alongwith another person identified as Harpreet alias Happy (22) were travelling who sustained serious gunshot injuries.

Ferozepur, August 31, 2026: In a late night incident in Mamdot, four car borne assailants opened firing towards another car in which Gurpreet Singh Alias Gopi ( 45) who alongwith another person identified as Harpreet alias Happy (22) were travelling who sustained serious gunshot injuries.
Following the incident, the injured were taken to Civil Hospital in Ferozepur. While Gurpreet was declared brought dead by the doctors, Harpreet was referred to private hospital in Ludhiana. As per information, the newly appointed President of Mamdot Nagar Panchayat Vicky Maini from AAP was also present there alongwith them but he escaped unhurt. Gurpreet's father Balkar Singh was a Former Congress Leader, but Gurpreet was associated with AAP for some time and his sister-in-law had also been elected as Member of Nagar Panchayat recently.
Bhupinder Singh SSP said that the police has identified the accused who were of notorious mindset, and police teams have been dispatched to nab them. SSP said that that apparently it was an outcome of personal enmity triggered during the recent MC elections.
Dr Shifa Medical Officer Civil Hospital confirmed that Gurpreet was declared brought dead While Harpreet had sustained serious bullet injuries.
