Fortis Hospital, Bangalore along with KACTS, CSI and API conducted an informative session on Frugal Innovations in Heart transplant
Bangalore, October 1, 2018: Fortis Hospital, Bangalore, along with Karnataka Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons (KACTS), Cardiological Society of India (CSI) Bangalore Chapter, and Associations of Physicians of India (API) Karnataka Chapter conducted an informative session on Frugal Innovations in Heart Transplant. Around 300 doctors across Karnataka had attended this session. According to WHO, cardiovascular diseases are major cause of mortality globally, as well as in India. In line with this concern, Dr. Vivek Jawali, Chief Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon, Chairman, Department of Cardio Vascular Sciences, Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore and Dr. K R Balakrishnan,Director of Cardiac Science; Chief Cardiothoracic and Transplant Surgeon at Fortis Malar Hospital, Chennai discussed on the need for frugal innovations in heart transplant and how modern surgical techniques have helped in facilitating transplants.
